Milky Way over McWay Falls

This was a magical evening in so many ways. It was a purposeful evening, knowing the moon was well out of the night sky, and it was warm. So warm that as I approached McWay Falls at after 8 pm, the temperature kept rising, and peaked at 88 degrees. Then there was the grandeur of the Milky Way which, as iconic as McWay Falls is, it felt so small compared to vastness of the night sky and the Milky Way resting over the horizon. The sky was crystal clear, and Venus was low in the sky. To my amazement, Venus was bright enough to reflect on the Pacific Ocean below. And if you look closely, you can see the phosphorescence in the waters near the point at Mcway Falls. The sky, for whatever reason, and I think perhaps because of the reflection in the night sky of the Pacific, the sky came out in the image with hues of green. And then there was this amazing symphony going on. Thousands of crickets playing in tandem to the right and then the left of me, all combining with the eb and flow of the surf below. By the way I captured this with my binaural microphones in a separate video you can hear in the Videography section of TimBlakeImagery.com. Finally was the soft cooler air coming up meeting the warm inland air and the dance of the two coming and going in the night was, again, magical. This is alot to capture in the energy of the moment, but I hope this image helps take you there with me on this very special evening.
